Asoka has made ordinary decisions before too - DADA

Doug Bollinger was outstanding for the Aussies. He bowled a consistent line throughout with good pace and that kept the Indian batsmen under pressure. The turning point was the run out of Yuvraj Singh. It was outstanding fielding by Ricky Ponting and that wicket put a lot of pressure on Dhoni. Once again, he had to play out of his skin to see India through. He needed a solid partnership either with Raina or Jadeja, but that did not happen.

It was an opportunity for Raina and Jadeja to make a mark. But under pressure, that did not happen. Raina needs to take a look at his game. Looking at him on TV just gives me a feeling that he hangs back against the fast bowlers which prevents him from controlling the game. It is a mental adjustment and he needs to get it sorted quickly.

Sachin looked very good till he was done in by an ordinary decision by Asoka De Silva. Asoka has made such decisions in the past and it could be a worry to both teams if he makes such decisions in future.

Dhoni will be a bit disappointed that his batting unit could not get past 250. But he will have to put this behind and get ready for the next game as the series is still wide open.

Although Australia won this game, there are still a few things to worry about. They will have to reconsider the team composition as their batting doesn’t quite look good, especially the middle-order. They will not be able to restrict India within 250 all the time. With Watson bowling, I am sure it has given Ricky Ponting an option to play another batsman which he must do to put runs up.

The injury of Peter Siddle will be a concern for him. But this could put extra responsibility on Mitchell Johnson and this might improve his performance level as he has been very ordinary throughout this series.
Hauritz’s performance will make Ponting happy because if he bowls well in the middle, which is so important in Indian conditions, he will put a lot of pressure on the Indian middle order.

Congratulations to the Mohali curator for preparing an excellent wicket.

Hopefully, we will see another exciting match in Hyderabad where the pitch is outstanding. PMG
