Mumbai: Reality doesn't bite. It pays. Consider this. Former cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has admitted that he was offered a "blank cheque" to get locked up in Bigg Boss' house.

"I was made an offer by a television channel to stay locked in a house for a period of two months. The remuneration they put in front of me was a blank cheque,"
Sourav told DNA. Senior executives at the TV channel Colors as well as producer company Endemol confirmed the offer.

Ganguly, who is already hosting a game show on a rival channel, has refused the offer.
"My hands are full. I didn't want to get into such reality shows right now," he added.

This isn't a one-off, say sources at Endemol. Flashing a blank cheque in front of celebrities has, of late, become a trend -- a way to "grab celebrities" for reality shows.

"We did contact Sourav and asked him to quote his own price to be on the show. But the same offer was made to a lot of other celebs too. They were at liberty to quote their price to us and we would have immediately agreed had the price suited us," says a senior executive at Colors.

Not everyone, though, gets to quote their price. "This trend is limited only to Bollywood A-listers and a few other celebs of that stature," added a senior official at Endemol
